The Star Wars Knitting Goddess

knitting and sci-fi - is there anything else??? The ramblings of a crazed mother/wife/student/sci-fi fan as related to knitting (usually).

I love french fries

I do. I mean, I love french fries so much that I might consider eating them every day if I wasn't afraid of gaining a million pounds. I worked so hard using the Weight Watchers system and I don't want to gain it back. But, I digress. French Fries are quite possibly the most tasty and wonderful food. I do love chocolate and British tea. Alright, so french fries, chocolate and British tea. Do I need any other food?? (I love hot dogs too. That's another post.)
I am going to begin my mom's birthday sweater in the next few days. I'm going to knit Sonnet from
I will post updates as I am able.

So, my local yarn store was having this great sale today. If a knitter showed up between 7am and 9am, one would receive 40% off of their total. You'd better believe that I was so there. I was even quite restrained.

I got a new copy of Ella Rae Designs Book One: KFI Yarns. (I have two sweaters on the needles that I couldn't finish because I lost the book.)
2 balls of Plymouth Yarns Alpaca Boucle in numbr 707 (it's plum and pink.)
2 balls of Farfalla wool/nylon blend in color 310 (it's pink and it's got blue, orange, yellow and blue slubs.)
1 ball of off white acrylic/wool blend
1 ball of Classic Elite's Skye Tweed in color 1272 (tan)
1 ball of Classic Elite's Skye Tweed in color 1291 (brown)
1 skein of Trekking XXL in color 144 (self striping sock yarn in pink, black, purple and brown.)
1 skein of Trekking XXL in color 130 (more self striping yarn in green, yellow, black and purple.)
That's pretty restrained. I'll post a picture when DH come back from his hunting trip.
Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was great!

I will post some pictures. . . I just don't know when

Sounds like the story of my life. I do mean to work on stuff. It's a matter of finding the time to actually do it. I think a lot of people underestimate the amount of time it takes to do things. I am one of them.
My "E" button isn't working right.
I'll post more when I (sorry about this) have more time.

A sock post

I realize that I'm a terrible blogger. I realize that I haven't actually posted since May and tomorrow is the fourth of July. (Sorry about that.) I am still alive and well. I have pretty much recovered from my cystectomy. I have actually knit some stuff. The picture to the left is my third pair of socks. I knit these on 2 - size 2 (american) 24" circular needles using the Cat Bordhi method from her book, "Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles." Honestly, I love this method. It seems that without a pair of socks to knit, I'm slightly more confused (if that's possible.) It's also thanks to Stephanie (the Yarn Harlot) and her latest book that I'm knitting socks at all. I must start a new pair of socks for my choir director. She admired the ones in the picture. Flattery will get you whatever knitted stuff you want!
Happy Independence Day!

I am offically stir crazy

It may be somewhat true that my sanity has been somwhat spotty since having children. I'm not sure what it is about the children that makes what's left of my sanity leak out of my left ear but I am absoutely sure that it has leaked out. Add this to my SLOW recovery from a cystectomy and you have a woman who is beyond ready to leave the house. (Note - I have been in the house since Sunday afternoon. It is now Thursday afternoon.) I'm ready to go almost anywhere. Going to have a root canal sounds appealing.
On another note, I am going to take the spinning class on Saturday. I have to go get some of the supplies for the class. I'd like to drive out there but I'm not supposed to drive. I was thinking of driving out there anyway. Oh - alright. I won't actually drive there but I've got to get out of here.
Any ideas??

Quick update

I do apologize for not updating more. I'm recovering from surgery and it's slow going. I haven't gotten much knitting done either. I'm too sleepy.
I have to post a picture of the best gift I got through the mail.
It will have to wait until tomorrow.

An update

I have been neglecting the old blog lately but I have good reason. I got an awful cold while in Missouri and then woke up Tuesday morning with a horrible pain in my abdomen. After a couple of days of the usual run around, they found a cyst. Bottom line is that I'm going in for surgery on Tuesday. I was considering waiting for a week or two but I'm feeling a little worse today - although the cold is much better.
I checked out Cat Bordhi's book about knitting socks on two circular needles and I can't wait to try it. Maybe there will be a yarn store visit later today. (Remember, the yarn store is literally 2 blocks from the house. Dangerous, I know!)
My help has arrived. More with pictures of my very first sock coming soon!
